As in Mongolia, motorcycles are quickly replacing horses. The contrast bewteen the rugged strength of the Tibetan men and their soft, furry, and flowered flair for fashion was fascinating. Old Tibet, 2003.

Tour buses stop at small villages such as these, where local children and adults pose in traditional garb for photos in hopes of bringing some benefit to their families. Unfortunately, this short-term gain keeps kids from attaining skills and schooling.
